my nixies are essentially a bastardized conglomerate of a ton of different nixie myths. traditionally, the women are usually portrayed as beautiful, sometimes as mermaids. the men are often (but not always) portrayed as ugly, malicious old men. both genders are sometimes said to be dangerous, luring people to drowning, and sometimes said to be more or less harmless. shapeshifting is also a common theme among most nixie myths.
the main points of my nixies are as follows:
1) male nixies are uncontrollably dangerous to humans near water, females are not dangerous unless they choose to be. this is based in the fact that we thought of the male nixies as 'ugly', dangerous things are more likely to be painted in a negative light.
2) they are naturally large lizards, but can shapeshift into a human form. basically i just picked a form i liked to be their 'natural' form here.
